How does the braking phase of the brake foot valve work

Nov 13,2023

The braking phase of the Brake Foot Valve is a key part of its working principle. This phase involves the driver applying force through the pedal to cause the braking system to produce a braking effect.
Driver exerts force:
The braking phase begins when the driver presses the brake pedal, which causes the braking system to receive a control signal. The pedal is connected to the valve body on the Brake Foot Valve, and the driver changes the position of the valve core inside the valve body by applying force.
Spool movement:
Air pressure source connection: When the valve core is moved by the force exerted by the driver, the air line begins to connect to the air pressure source. The source of air pressure is usually an air compressor on the vehicle, which provides compressed air as the braking medium.
Air line opening: The movement of the valve core causes the air line to open, allowing compressed air to enter the air line of the brake system. The opening of the air path is achieved by adjusting the position of the valve core to align it with the air path connection port.
Gas flows into the brake cylinder:
Brake cylinder connection: The opening of the air line allows gas to flow into the brake cylinder connected to the Brake Foot Valve. Brake cylinders usually include a piston that is moved by gas.
Gas compression: After the gas enters the brake cylinder, it begins to compress the gas in the brake cylinder. This causes the piston in the brake cylinder to push outward, applying braking force to the brake drum or disc.
Braking force application:
Force on the brake drum or brake disc: Due to the compression of gas in the brake cylinder, the brake drum or brake disc is acted upon by force, causing the vehicle to brake. The amount of braking force is affected by the force exerted by the driver through the pedal and the air pressure of the air source.
Driver controls braking force:
Pedal force adjustment: The force exerted by the driver through the pedal determines the degree of movement of the valve core, thereby adjusting the opening and closing degree of the air circuit. This makes the braking force controllable, allowing the driver to adjust the braking intensity as needed.
Continuation and release of braking force:
Maintain braking force: As long as the driver maintains force on the brake pedal and the Brake Foot Valve keeps the air path open, the braking force will continue to be applied.
Release the brake: Once the driver releases the brake pedal, the valve core quickly returns to the initial position through the action of the spring, closing the air circuit, releasing the gas in the brake cylinder, and vehicle braking is released.

Foot Brake Control Valve

The Foot Brake Control Valve allows the driver to have precise control over the application of the truck's service brakes using their foot. This control is important for safe driving, especially when decelerating, coming to a stop, or maneuvering in traffic.
Designed with expertise, this Foot Brake Control Valve effectively solves the problem of foot fatigue by allowing the driver to apply the brakes effortlessly using their foot.
